A lifelong fascination with colour and texture in both the human and natural world-from the wilderness of northern Ontario, to the markets of South East Asia, to the shores of the Bay of Fundy- has lead me to an exploration of natural fibres. Felting (the process of using heat, soap and agitation to fuse fibres together into one piece) is a fulltime passion of mine.
While I work primarily with Merino wool, I often incorporate fibres from different breeds for a variety of textures and colours. I also embellish my work with other materials including silk, linen and hemp fibres. Using this range of media I create unique visual art pieces suitable for wall mounting. All of my wool and silk is hand-dyed ensuring that my artwork is of high quality colourfastness.
Nature largely inspires my work and the colours I dye my wool. Fibre is an endlessly versatile medium that allows me to interpret the infinite array of colour, texture and beauty beyond my doorstep.
